Carrollton Police Apprehend Jugging Suspects in Response to Burglary Call

On Monday, December 18, 2023, Carrollton Officers responded to a burglary just occurred call in the 1900 block of Country Club Dr. An off-duty Kaufman County deputy, who happened to be in the area, witnessed two male suspects burglarizing the complex. A traffic stop was initiated on the suspect vehicle by the Officers.

Following an investigation by Carrollton Police Officers, it was determined that both males were likely involved in "jugging".  "Jugging" is a theft committed by a perpetrator who waits at a bank, near an ATM, or outside an expensive store, watches for customers who might be carrying a large amount of cash or goods, and then follows them to steal the money or goods from the customer or from their car.

The suspects in this case were arrested, and subsequent searches of their vehicle revealed almost $13,000 in cash, along with several bank envelopes, window breakers, GPS tracking devices, gloves, and ski masks.

The arrested individuals are now in custody, and Carrollton Police urge the public to remain vigilant when at banks, retrieving money from ATMs, or entering high-end stores. Authorities emphasize the importance of not leaving valuable belongings such as cash and jewelry in vehicles. Carrollton Police are actively implementing proactive deployments to counteract this criminal trend.
