Eight students from Irving ISD are gearing up to represent their district at the 2024 DECA National competition in Anaheim, CA. DECA, which stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America, is an organization aimed at preparing high school students for careers in various fields such as marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.
These students earned their spots through a rigorous evaluation process held at this month's State competition in Houston. The evaluation process consisted of a written assessment and an interactive segment judged by industry professionals. Those who emerged victorious at the state level secured their tickets to nationals.
The students set to compete at the national level in April are as follows:
From Irving High School:
- Lianette Cordova
- Farra Patel
From MacArthur High School:
- Marion Hawkins
- Peter Ivanov
- Christian Santana
- Sutton Smith
From Nimitz High School:
- Sabrina Cruz
- Vincent Nguyen
Congratulations to these talented students, and best of luck to them as they represent Irving ISD on the national stage!
