Identified: Body Found Floating in East Fort Worth Park Creek

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating the discovery of a body found in the water at an east Fort Worth park on Wednesday afternoon, March 6, 2024.

A concerned passerby dialed 911 shortly after 12:15 p.m. to report spotting a body floating face down in the creek near Post Oak Village Park at the 3800 block of Post Oak Blvd, close to the City of Euless border. The individual described the deceased as a man wearing a construction uniform.

First responders from the Fort Worth police and fire departments reached the location just before 12:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they confirmed the presence of a deceased male in the water.

Initial observations noted no signs of trauma, leaving the cause of the man’s death undetermined. As per standard protocol for such incidents, additional investigative units were deployed.

Subsequently, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the deceased as 34-year-old Jared Onyancha Matoke.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death continues.
