Keynote Speaker: Judge Vonda Bailey Shaw, a Dallas College alumna

Dallas College is set to commemorate Women's History Month with a series of events, featuring prominent figures and discussions highlighting women's contributions across various fields.

One of the flagship events of the celebration is the 2024 Women’s Empowerment Leadership Conference. Scheduled for March, the conference will feature Judge Vonda Bailey Shaw as its keynote speaker. Judge Shaw, an alumna of Dallas College and a family court judge in Dallas County, brings a wealth of experience and insight to the event.

Dr. Stephanie Hill, Dallas College's associate vice chancellor for student life and engagement and student success, expressed the significance of Women's History Month, stating, “Women’s history month honors not only trailblazers in business, sports, education and other fields but pays tribute to all women.” Dr. Hill emphasized the importance of recognizing the impact of women's legacies.

Additionally, as part of the Civil Rights Speaker Series, the North Lake Campus will host "Women in Technology: Opening Doors, Igniting Potential." The panel, moderated by Dr. Christa Slejko, North Lake Campus president, will feature professionals like Ronda Hayes, Dr. Pamela Luckett, and Shanee’ Moore discussing the role of women in technology.

The celebration will kick off with various activities including trivia games, inspirational letter writing, and an exhibit showcasing trailblazing women in Texas. These events will take place across multiple campuses of Dallas College and are open to the public.
