District Attorney Greg Willis’s office announced that Brandon Dale, 43, of Dallas, has been sentenced to life without parole for the robbery and murder of a Sachse father. A jury found Dale guilty of Capital Murder.
On June 7, 2021, the Sachse Police Department conducted a welfare check on a resident who had not reported to work. Officers discovered the homeowner deceased, with evidence indicating the victim had been dead for several days. Surveillance footage showed three individuals entering the victim’s home on June 4th and leaving with stolen items, including two of the victim’s vehicles, early on June 5th. The medical examiner identified the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head and sharp force injuries.
Around the same time, off-duty Dallas Police Officer Jerry Cox observed a truck being abandoned in a private parking lot. Sachse PD Detective Chris Burns and Texas Ranger David Armstrong later identified the truck as belonging to the deceased. The investigation revealed the individual abandoning the truck was involved in the murder. The victim’s family reported several stolen items, including electronics and personal belongings.
Collin County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Joshua Duncan analyzed cell phone data, confirming the presence of all three suspects at the crime scene. The victim’s phone activity was traced to a storage facility owned by Dale shortly after the murder. Wylie Police Department Detective Chris Meehan discovered text messages on Dale’s phone, revealing plans to rob and kill the victim. All three suspects were arrested and charged with capital murder.
Following the trial, the jury found Brandon Dale guilty of capital murder. With the death penalty not sought, Dale received a mandatory life sentence without parole. Visiting Judge James Pruitt presided over the trial.
“Dale’s conviction was only possible due to the relentless and meticulous efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies. The victim was a generous and respected member of our community, and the brutal nature of his death highlights Brandon Dale’s greed and violence. With Dale now behind bars for life, our community is safer,” stated Willis after sentencing.
Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Christina Skipper and Calli Bailey prosecuted the case, with support from District Attorney Investigator Laurie Gibbs.
