The City of Dallas has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Dallas HERO, a political group, demanding they stop using a photograph of three Dallas Police Department (DPD) officers along with the City’s trademark and logo in their campaign for City charter amendment ballot measures S, T, and U.
According to the City, the officers in the photograph did not provide permission for their likeness to be used, and neither the City of Dallas nor the DPD authorized the use of the image or the City’s logo in the campaign. The Dallas City Code strictly prohibits unauthorized use of the City’s badge and insignia, which are visible on the officers' uniforms in the photo.
The letter demands that Dallas HERO immediately cease using the photograph, trademark, and logo in all campaign materials, including online, printed, or digital platforms. The City emphasized that it is not affiliated with Dallas HERO and did not approve the group's use of these materials.
