Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Fatal Shooting After Night at Dallas Club

On September 26, 2024, Julio Ramirez, 21, was found guilty of the 2022 murder of 20-year-old Roger Lopez. A jury sentenced Ramirez to 20 years in prison for the shooting, which occurred in the early hours of August 21, 2022, in the Piedmont Addition area of Dallas.

The incident began when Lopez, Ramirez, and Ramirez’s cousin, Adeil Crispin Sifuentes, went out for dinner and visited Tigers Cabaret. While at the club, Sifuentes was kicked out. As the group was walking home, a heated argument broke out. Ramirez believed Lopez, who was unarmed, intended to harm Sifuentes. In response, Ramirez shot Lopez twice in the head.

At 4:48 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at 2200 Hillburn Drive. Officers arrived to find Lopez with fatal gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. As detectives processed the scene, Sifuentes called 911, admitting his involvement and identifying Ramirez as the shooter. Sifuentes also stated he feared for his life. Ramirez was arrested shortly after, returning to the location.

A Ring doorbell camera recorded the moments leading up to the shooting, though the first shot occurred after the group had walked out of view. Ramirez and Sifuentes fled the scene, leaving Lopez in a crosswalk, where he was later discovered by a passerby.

Ramirez had no prior criminal history. During the trial, Emily Antram led the prosecution, with Abby Parmelly as second chair. DA Investigator Claudia Mena-Marroquin and paralegal Andretta Lewis assisted in the case. The jury ultimately sentenced Ramirez to 20 years in prison, and Ramirez waived his right to appeal.
