Man Convicted in 2021 Fatal Stabbing Incident, Sentenced to 11.5 Years for Manslaughter

Hubert Quienten Warren

Hubert Quienten Warren, 55, has been sentenced to 11.5 years in prison after being found guilty of manslaughter in the 2021 death of Wendell Earl Jeffrey. Warren, who was initially charged with murder, stabbed Jeffrey in the heart on May 22, 2021. Despite being critically injured, Jeffrey managed to fire back, shooting Warren before succumbing to his injuries.

Warren called the Dallas Police Department following the altercation and was subsequently arrested. This was not Warren's first violent offense; in 2019, he had been arrested for biting off a man’s pinky finger and assaulting him with a metal pipe at a DART station at Forest Lane near U.S. Highway 75.

The case, led by prosecutor Erik Lisowski and second chair Katherine Mitchell, was investigated by the Dallas Police Department, with special assistance from Investigator Garrick Whaley and ADA Ann Duffy. Warren's sentencing was handed down on September 27, 2024, after he was found guilty of manslaughter.
