Three Suspects Identified in Colleyville Storage Unit Burglaries, One Still at Large

Three suspects have been identified in connection with the burglary of storage units at a local storage business in December 2024. The crimes, which were not discovered until January 2025, were reported to the Colleyville Police Department after victims noticed various items missing, including a Samsung television, furniture, home décor, appliances, clothing, and kitchen items.

On January 6, 2025, Colleyville Detectives obtained surveillance footage from the storage facility and identified the suspects as 35-year-old Ryan M. Leiss, 37-year-old Quinton M. Barrow, and 55-year-old Sherry L. Akin. Investigators determined that although the suspects had listed addresses in Watauga, Texas, they had been residing in Colleyville at the time of the burglaries and had rented a storage unit in the same facility under a false name.

Arrest warrants were issued for all three suspects: Akin and Leiss each face two counts of Burglary of a Building, while Barrow faces one count of the same charge. Akin has three prior theft convictions, and Leiss has a previous burglary conviction.

On February 5, 2025, the North Tarrant Regional SWAT Team executed felony arrest warrants at their residence in the 500 block of McDonwell School Rd. W. Barrow and Leiss were taken into custody without incident, but Akin was not at the location and remains at large.

Authorities executed a search warrant at the residence, recovering a large number of stolen items, which will be returned to the victims.

Anyone with information on Akin’s whereabouts is urged to contact Det. King at 817-503-1264 or sking@colleyville.com. Anonymous tips can be submitted through CrimeStoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-TIPS (8477).
