Tarrant County Jury Sentences Man to 58 Years for Sexual Assault of Children

FORT WORTH, TX – Donald William Tyson III, also known as "Billy," 49, has been sentenced to a total of 58 years in prison after a Tarrant County jury found him guilty on June 30th of aggravated sexual assault of a child, sexual assault of a child, and indecency with a child. The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office announced the conviction today, Thursday, July 3rd.

Tyson sexually abused a male relative dozens of times between the ages of 13 and 16. The victim testified that Tyson would intoxicate him with alcohol and Xanax before molesting him. During the investigation, two additional male relatives came forward, reporting that Tyson had also sexually assaulted them, with one of those assaults dating back to the 1990s.

"He sexually assaulted children and they were his own family members," Assistant District Attorney D.J. Estes told the jury in closing arguments.

The case was prosecuted by D.J. Estes and David Elder. DA Investigator Brad Gantt and Victim Coordinator Cristina Rangel supported the prosecution.
