Grand Prairie, TX – The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Sunday morning, November 2nd, in the 2700 block of East Interstate 30.
Around 3:20 a.m., officers responded to reports of a major accident near MacArthur Boulevard. Investigators determined that a Chevy Tahoe traveling westbound at a high rate of speed struck the rear of a semi-truck that was moving slowly in traffic. The impact caused the Tahoe to collide with a Honda passenger car.
The driver of the Chevy Tahoe was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, and the driver of the Honda suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased as 30-year-old Jonathan Garcia-Nieto.
The crash remains under investigation by the Grand Prairie Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
