An alert Lakeside police officer is being credited with rescuing an elderly woman and a child during an active domestic violence incident in west Tarrant County.
On Saturday, December 27, 2025, at approximately 11:46 a.m., the Lakeside Police Department was dispatched to assist a neighboring agency with a reported domestic disturbance. Dispatch advised responding units that they could hear a male screaming at a female and threatening to kill her. The female victim was later identified as the suspect’s elderly mother.
While officers were en route, dispatch received GPS information from the victim’s cell phone indicating the individuals were inside a moving vehicle. With no description of the vehicle available, Officer Christopher Thibodeaux began scanning traffic in the area.
Officer Thibodeaux soon observed a black Nissan Rogue with a female in the rear left seat hanging out of the window, waving frantically and screaming for help. Recognizing the immediate danger, Officer Thibodeaux initiated a high-risk traffic stop without hesitation.
The male suspect was taken into custody, and officers safely rescued both the elderly woman and a small child who was also inside the vehicle. Investigators later determined the suspect had multiple felony warrants out of Tarrant County. He was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and unlawful restraint.
The Lakeside Police Department praised Officer Thibodeaux for his quick thinking and decisive action, stating that his response exemplified the highest standards of professionalism, service, and commitment to protecting the community.
