Dallas Police Department announced Thursday, January 29, the arrests of three suspects connected to a dangerous New Year’s Eve shooting on the Margaret McDermott Bridge that was captured on video and circulated worldwide.
According to investigators, Anthony Acevedo, 20, and Jose Alarcon-Sanchez, 18, both of Grand Prairie, were seen in multiple social media videos firing weapons from the bridge over Interstate 30 just west of downtown Dallas. The incident drew international attention due to the reckless gunfire and the heavy traffic below.
Detectives with the department’s Central Patrol Division and Special Investigations Unit launched an extensive investigation, working alongside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. More than 100 shell casings were recovered near the scene.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Alarcon-Sanchez had already been arrested by the Grand Prairie Police Department for a similar offense committed in their city during the early morning hours of January 1, 2026.

As the case developed, investigators also uncovered evidence linking 25-year-old Anderson Derce-Lara to a separate road-rage shooting that occurred in November. In that incident, Derce Lara allegedly fired multiple rounds into a vehicle occupied by three adults and three children. With assistance from federal agents, detectives executed a search warrant and recovered several firearms, including rifles believed to be the same weapons seen in the viral bridge video.
Acevedo and Alarcon-Sanchez have been charged with Discharge of a Firearm in Certain Municipalities, a Class A misdemeanor. Derce Lara faces six counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a first-degree felony. Acevedo has since been released on bond, while both Alarcon-Sanchez and Derce Lara are currently subject to immigration holds.
“This case sends a clear message,” said Daniel Comeaux. “If you put lives at risk in Dallas, we will identify you, investigate thoroughly, and hold you accountable.”
