Stolen Vehicle Chase Across I-45 Ends with Arrest, Injured Suspect in Corsicana

Corsicana Police Department responded to a vehicle theft that escalated into a multi-agency pursuit Thursday night, January 29, 2026, ending with one suspect in custody and another hospitalized in critical condition.

At approximately 8:21 p.m., officers received a 911 call from a woman reporting her vehicle had just been stolen. While officers were en route, a second caller contacted 911 to report he was following the stolen vehicle northbound on Interstate 45 after recognizing it from a Facebook post about the theft.

Under the direction of Sgt. Michael Brooks, Corsicana officers coordinated with dispatch and alerted surrounding agencies. The Navarro County Sheriff’s Office, Ellis County agencies, Ennis Police Department, Rice Police Department, and Alma Police Department all assisted in the response.

The stolen vehicle was located on Interstate 45, where Rice and Alma officers attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, and during the pursuit one of the occupants threw a 9mm pistol out of the window. The firearm was later recovered. Officers from Rice and Alma initiated the pursuit, with Corsicana units joining to provide additional support.

Corsicana officers deployed tire deflation devices during the chase. After an initial unsuccessful attempt, a second deployment near North 7th Street and East 1st Avenue successfully disabled one tire and slowed the vehicle. Despite the damage, the suspect vehicle continued southbound.

During the pursuit, one suspect jumped from the moving vehicle near the intersection of North 7th Street and East 3rd Avenue. Officers from Alma and Corsicana immediately stopped to render aid and requested emergency medical assistance. The stolen vehicle continued a short distance before stopping near Oak Grove Road and North 7th Street, where Rice Police, assisted by Corsicana officers, conducted a felony stop and took the driver into custody without incident.

A 17-year-old suspect was transported to the Navarro County Jail, where he is awaiting arraignment and faces a charge of Evading Arrest or Detention Causing Serious Bodily Injury. A 20-year-old suspect was transported to a Dallas-area hospital and remains in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected. Corsicana police credited the rapid coordination and teamwork of Rice Police Department, Alma Police Department, and all assisting agencies for bringing the incident to a close safely.
