Man Shot During Dispute Over Dogs in Farmers Branch

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas — A man was hospitalized after being shot during a dispute Tuesday night, March 3rd, near a community garden in Farmers Branch, police said.

Officers with the Farmers Branch Police Department responded around 8:00 p.m. to the 12400 block of Templeton Trail after receiving a 911 call from a man who reported he had been shot.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound. Farmers Branch Fire Department personnel treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to Parkland Hospital. His current condition has not been released.

Preliminary information indicates the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the victim and another individual regarding their dogs. During the confrontation, police say the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the victim.

The suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody by responding officers without incident.

Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Alexis Salazar Martinez who has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
