FRISCO, Texas — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a decades-old homicide case, according to the Frisco Police Department.
Keith Hart, 57, of Waxahachie, was taken into custody May 8 on a murder warrant tied to the 2002 killing of Plano resident Frank Weiss.
Weiss was found dead near Lake Lewisville in June, 2002, within Frisco city limits more than two decades ago. He was shot by a .38 caliber gun. His body was found in the lake wrapped in black bags and was tied up with rope. Sandbags were duct taped to his legs to weigh the body down.
Investigators said continued work on the case, along with cooperation from key witnesses, led to new developments. They also mentioned that advancements in investigative techniques and modern DNA-based technology had been a factor in identifying the killers.
Hart’s arrest follows the earlier arrest of 55-year-old Lisa Honrud, who was taken into custody April 20 and also charged with murder in the case. Honrud was the victim's wife at the time of the murder. The investigation revealed that Weiss had asked his wife for an annulment and she had signed the document.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue working to fully resolve the case.
“This second arrest moves us closer to closure for the Weiss family and our entire community,” said David Shilson.
