The Irving Police Department was contacted at approximately 10:20 a.m. in reference to a suspicious package received in the 300 block of Phelps Drive (Kimberly Clark). After company personnel examined the package, it was believed that the police department should be contacted for further examination. Explosive Ordinance personnel responded to the location. As a safety precaution, an evacuation of the building was conducted.
The suspicious package was removed from the building, taken to an outside location and rendered safe. Upon closer examination of the contents, as well as two additional packages received from the same sender, the package was determined to be harmless. The packages appeared to have been sent to the location as part of a marketing promotion and there was no intent to cause alarm. The necessary precautions were followed by all parties to ensure a safe conclusion to this incident.
