The Irving Police Department is currently investigating an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon that occurred in the 600 Block of Nursery Road yesterday at approximately 7:02 pm. Officers responded to Hurwitz Park in reference to a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers found one victim who had been shot in the lower extremities with an unknown handgun. It appears that there may have been a verbal altercation at the basketball court. The suspect left the area in a white vehicle prior to police arrival.
There were people in the park at the time of the offense. There were no other victims or injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Irving paramedics with a non-life threatening injury. The suspect was not located. There is no further information at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
