Euless Police Issues Warning on Scam Callers Claiming Victim has an Active Warrant for their Arrest

The Euless Police Department posted a reminder to citizens about telephone scams being committed by suspects who are purporting to be law enforcement.

Suspects, likely based overseas, use techniques to make it appear their call is from the Euless Police Department. The caller claims to be a high ranking official, advising there is an active warrant for their arrest. The caller then convinces victims to purchase prepaid gift cards and send them the card information, which will take care of the warrant.

Once obtaining the gift card numbers, the suspect quickly disperses the funds through various means, which leaves the victim with little to no recourse in recovering the loss.

As a general practice, Euless Police Chief Mike Brown, Assistant Chief Gary Landers, or any Officer from the Euless Police Department, will NOT contact our citizens by telephone about payments to take care of outstanding arrest warrants. Additionally, please do not send money, prepaid gift card information, and/or checks to individuals claiming to be from the Euless Police Department, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, and/or any local or federal agency.

Simple solution is to just hang up the phone and report the scam call to the Federal Trade Commission.
