The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Friday, June 23rd in the 2200 block of S. Belt Line Road.
At approximately 10:45 pm, a silver Ford Mustang was traveling south when it struck a Honda Civic passenger car that was turning left onto East Cober Drive. The driver of the Ford Mustang fled the scene on foot. A passenger of the Mustang was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A juvenile passenger of the Honda was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
The driver of the Ford mustang was identified as Damian Torres, 21 years of age. Today, Saturday, Torres turned himself in and is being held at the Grand Prairie Detention Center on the following charges:
- Manslaughter - $50,000.00 bond
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon - $25,000.00 bond
- Accident Involving Death - $25,000.00 bond
- Accident Involving Injury - $10,000.00 bond
This crash remains under investigation.
