In the early hours of Friday, June 23rd, a dramatic high-speed chase unfolded on the streets of Haltom City. The incident began at approximately 4:40 A.M. when a vigilant patrol officer noticed a Kia Soul and Kia Optima racing east in the 5400 block of East Belknap, surpassing the speed limit of 70 miles per hour. The officer promptly attempted a traffic stop, but both drivers chose to disregard the authorities and continued their reckless journey.
As the pursuit intensified, the two vehicles, seemingly cooperating with each other, raced onto Baker Boulevard, reaching dangerous speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. The situation took a dramatic turn when both cars crashed into the concrete construction barriers after crossing the 820 bridge onto Hwy 10.
Law enforcement officers swiftly apprehended two suspects from the Kia Soul who attempted to flee the scene on foot. However, both occupants of the Kia Optima suffered severe injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
According to preliminary information, this incident involved multiple suspects, including several juveniles and at least one adult. The authorities suspect that both vehicles involved in the chase may have been stolen, adding an additional layer of complexity to the investigation. To aid in the accident investigation, various local agencies have lent their support to Haltom City law enforcement.
The investigation remains ongoing, and it is possible that further arrests and charges will be made in connection with the incident. The identities of any adult individuals taken into custody will not be disclosed until they have been arraigned before a magistrate. Similarly, the identities of the juvenile suspects will be withheld from the public.
