The Plano Police Department received notification on Saturday, June 24, 2023, regarding a missing person who was last seen in the 7000 block of Bishop Road. However, their search efforts came to a grim end when a deceased individual was discovered on Monday, June 26th, at approximately 7:28 pm in Lake Lewisville.
The body was located near a camping area within Hidden Cove Park on the east side of the lake. Alarmed park visitors spotted the lifeless body along the shoreline, prompting immediate action. Authorities from the Denton County Sheriff's Office also joined forces with The Colony Police Department to assist in the investigation.
Tragically, the deceased individual has been identified as the subject of Plano's missing person case—a 32-year-old female from Plano, Texas. The authorities have duly notified her next of kin. As of now, the medical examiner's office has not determined the preliminary cause of death, leaving this aspect of the investigation ongoing.
In a significant development, Plano Police detectives arrested Karlton Michael Dudley, a 37-year-old male from Plano, Texas, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Dudley has been charged with Abuse of a Corpse and is currently being held at the Collin County Detention Center. To secure his release, a bond amount of $500,000 has been set.
Despite the unsettling nature of this incident, authorities have reassured the public that there is currently no indication of any threat to the community stemming from this case. The investigation into the matter is being jointly conducted by the Crimes Against Persons Unit of the Plano Police Department and The Colony Police Department.
