In the early hours of July 8, 2023, a fatal motorcycle accident occurred on Interstate 635 in Grapevine, leaving a driver dead. The incident took place just before 2:30 a.m. when the driver, heading westbound on I-635, lost control of the motorcycle while attempting to exit onto southbound State Highway 121. Eyewitnesses reported that the man collided with the retaining wall, resulting in his ejection from the motorcycle, which came to rest on the overpass.
Grapevine Police and Fire personnel swiftly responded to the scene and made a shocking discovery. The driver's lifeless body was found near a creek bed below the overpass. Sadly, he was pronounced deceased on-site. Additionally, the motorcycle's gas tank had caught fire upon impact, prompting the crews to promptly extinguish the flames. For safety reasons and to conduct a thorough investigation into the accident, authorities closed down the overpass for approximately three hours. During this time, they carefully examined the scene and cleared any debris.
The identity of the driver has not yet been disclosed, pending confirmation by the medical examiner. Grapevine Police expressed their gratitude to all the witnesses who stopped at the scene to render assistance following the crash. Their swift response and selfless actions are commendable in such a distressing situation.
