Cedar Hill police officers rushed to the scene and arrived at approximately 12:21 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered a victim on the ground outside the clinic, having sustained a gunshot wound. Witnesses reported seeing a black male carrying a long gun leaving the area in a black Chrysler four-door vehicle.

Just moments later, at around 12:22 p.m., the suspect vehicle was involved in a collision in the 700 block of E. Belt Line Road. Responding officers noticed the suspect still inside the vehicle, holding the long gun. Five officers discharged their firearms at the suspect.

After the confrontation, officers removed the suspect from the vehicle and immediately administered life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived on the scene. The wounded suspect was transported to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

During the shooting incident, one physician from the medical building was also injured. The physician was transported to a nearby hospital, where they are currently in stable condition. Furthermore, a civilian driver, who happened to be involved in the crash caused by the suspect's vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

In response to the gravity of the situation, a comprehensive investigation will be undertaken. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s office will conduct a criminal investigation to ascertain the events leading up to the shooting and the circumstances surrounding it. Additionally, the Professional Standards Division of the Cedar Hill Police Department will conduct an administrative investigation to review the actions of the officers involved in the incident.

To aid in the investigation, footage from multiple car and body-worn cameras will be carefully examined to gain a thorough understanding of the events that transpired. As per standard protocol, all officers who discharged their firearms during the encounter will be placed on routine administrative leave until the investigation is completed and their actions can be thoroughly evaluated.
