Missing Southlake Man's Body Found at Tyler State Park

The body of a man reported missing by his wife was discovered on a hiking trail at Tyler State Park on July 14. The remains were later identified as those of George Sawyer, a 53-year-old man from Southlake.

George Sawyer had a history of medical issues, and his wife reported him missing from their home in Grapevine. Concerned about his well-being, authorities initiated a search operation to locate him.

Around 10 a.m., hikers stumbled upon Sawyer's lifeless body on a hiking trail within the park. The body was found in the early stages of decomposition, indicating that he may have been deceased for some time before the discovery.

Sawyer's car was found at the trailhead parking area, further confirming that he had entered Tyler State Park. An autopsy was ordered by Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Curtis Wulf to determine the cause of death.
