A devastating accident occurred this morning at approximately 9:30 am, resulting in the loss of a 12-year-old girl's life in Southlake. Southlake Police and Fire units rushed to the scene in the 100 block of Davis Boulevard in response to a major collision involving a white Chevy pickup truck and the young cyclist.
According to initial witness reports, the white Chevy pickup truck was traveling northbound on Davis Blvd. while the child was riding her bike on the adjacent sidewalk, also heading northbound. As the truck made a right turn into a private driveway on Davis Blvd., the tragic collision occurred, leaving the 12-year-old girl seriously injured.
Emergency medical services promptly arrived at the scene and transported the child to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Grapevine in critical condition. Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 10:15 am.
As of now, the identity of the young victim is being withheld until her next of kin can be notified about the heartbreaking incident.
Southlake authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine the factors contributing to the collision.
