Lewisville Police Officers were involved in a high-stakes pursuit on July 25, 2023, as they attempted to detain a suspect with multiple outstanding warrants in the 1100 block of West Main Street. The dramatic events unfolded when the suspect, identified as Damon McClendon, 38, of Lewisville, attempted to evade capture by fleeing in his vehicle, leading to a collision at the intersection of Main Street and Old Orchard Lane.
As officers approached the suspect, he made a reckless decision to escape in his vehicle, causing a severe crash in the busy intersection. The other vehicle involved in the collision was driven by an innocent party who suffered injuries to the mouth due to the impact.
Despite the crash, McClendon refused to give up easily. He abandoned his vehicle after the collision and fled on foot, triggering a brief but intense foot chase with the determined officers. Fortunately, law enforcement personnel acted swiftly and managed to apprehend the suspect shortly after the chase began.
Upon his arrest, Damon McClendon was charged with multiple offenses, including Accident Involving Serious Bodily Injury (hit and run), evading arrest, evading arrest with a vehicle, and a staggering total of 17 outstanding warrants.
