Ellis County and District Attorney Ann Montgomery announced that Adrian Leonardo Favila pled guilty to ten counts of Promotion of Child Pornography and was sentenced to twenty years in prison in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. All ten counts will run concurrently.
The Midlothian Police Department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s (NCMEC) CyberTipline that child pornography was being uploaded onto the Dropbox website from an address within their city. Investigators were able to trace the Dropbox account, phone number, and email address used to access the site to 25-year-old Adrain Leonardo Favila of Midlothian.
Promotion of Child Pornography is a second-degree felony that carries a sentencing range of two to twenty years in prison and a fine up to $10,000. Favila must also register as a sex offender once released from prison.
“Promotion or Possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is not a victimless crime. Each image is of a real child being abused,” stated Montgomery. “Not only did the child have to suffer the abuse itself but must live knowing that the image or video will forever be available for predators to view and trade.”
Assistant County and District Attorney James Zaleta prosecuted the case. The case was investigated by lead investigator Detective Jason O’Briant of the Midlothian Police Department.
