A shooting incident that occurred on August 3, 2023, in Northside San Angelo has left two victims injured and two suspects in custody. The incident unfolded near the intersection of West 19th and Brown Street, sending shockwaves through the peaceful neighborhood.
The San Angelo Police Department responded to a call reporting a shooting victim in the vicinity of West 19th and Brown Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a silver BMW had opened fire on a Silver Kia that was stopped at a stop sign. The hail of bullets struck the Silver Kia multiple times, causing significant damage. The Silver Kia then collided with a black Dodge Ram pickup after entering the intersection.
The driver of the Silver Kia, a 16-year-old female, managed to escape on foot into the surrounding area, leaving behind a trail of chaos. Meanwhile, an 18-year-old male passenger in the Silver Kia sustained injuries believed to have been caused by shrapnel. Both victims were swiftly transported to Shannon Medical Center via the San Angelo Fire Department for immediate medical attention. Fortunately, their injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.
In a determined response, law enforcement officers converged on the scene, launching an intensive search for the suspects. Their efforts paid off when a silver BMW was located near the intersection of N. Lillie and West 24th Street. Two individuals, later identified as Tayden Thibodeaux (age 18) and Andrew Garza (age 18), were detained by the authorities.
The San Angelo Police Department's Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Division were summoned to assist with the ongoing investigation. As details began to emerge, it was revealed that Thibodeaux and Garza were responsible for the shooting. The suspects allegedly fired upon the Silver Kia, inflicting harm on its occupants, before attempting to flee the scene in their silver BMW.
Following a thorough investigation, both Thibodeaux and Garza were arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
