Two Arrested in Georgia for 2022 San Angelo Texas Murder Case

In a major breakthrough, the San Angelo Police Department announced today the arrest of two suspects in connection with the homicide of Eric Talton, a missing person whose case had puzzled investigators since August 2022.

The investigation took an unexpected turn when an unidentified body was discovered in Kimble County, Texas, being probed by The Texas Rangers. Subsequent examinations led authorities to identify the body as that of Eric Talton. The Central Texas Autopsy in Lockhart, TX, performed a thorough autopsy, determining Talton's cause of death to be a homicide.

Following this revelation, a joint investigation was launched by the San Angelo Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Kimble County Sheriff's Department, and law enforcement agencies from Dekalb County, Georgia. Warrants were promptly issued for two suspects believed to be involved in the crime: Kenneth Lamar Harvey, 40 years old, facing charges of Murder and Tampering with Evidence, and Brittany Schoonmaker, 27 years old, charged with Tampering with Evidence.

In a significant turn of events, on August 3, 2023, both suspects were successfully apprehended in Dekalb County, Georgia. The coordinated efforts of various law enforcement agencies from Texas and Georgia ensured their swift capture. Following their arrest, Harvey and Schoonmaker were transported back to San Angelo and booked into the Tom Green County Jail on August 9, 2023.
