Lewisville police officers have apprehended a 22-year-old man on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Possession of Child Pornography after a 13-year-old child ran away from home to meet with him. The incident unfolded on August 1, 2023, when concerned family members alerted authorities about the missing child.
The Lewisville Police Department's Street Crimes Unit played a pivotal role in locating the child and the suspect at Wayne Frady Park, situated in the 500 block of West College Street. Working in tandem with patrol officers, detectives swiftly conducted a thorough field investigation, culminating in the development of probable cause to arrest the suspect.
The apprehended individual, identified as 22-year-old Maxwell Benson from Keller, was taken into custody without incident. Law enforcement officials charged Benson with two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, a grave offense that carries severe legal penalties. Furthermore, authorities discovered evidence of child pornography in Benson's possession, leading to an additional charge.
