On Thursday, October 12th, at around 10:40 p.m., the Grand Prairie Police Department responded to a shooting investigation at the Medical City ER Grand Prairie located in the 5200 block of Lake Ridge. At the Emergency Room, officers located a male with an apparent gunshot wound who had been transported to the location by his friends. The victim, identified as Simon Nguyen, 18 years of age, was pronounced deceased by Emergency Room staff.
Detectives determined the suspect and victim, who knew one another, met in the 1000 block of Coffeyville Trail in South Grand Prairie. The victim and suspect were engaged in possible high-risk activity when a disturbance between them occurred. The disturbance escalated resulting in the victim being shot.
The suspect, identified as Nathan Nix, 19 years of age, was apprehended today without incident by the United States Marshal Service North Texas Fugitive Task Force.
The suspect is currently being held at the Grand Prairie Detention Center on a charge of Capital Murder.
UPDATE: On Saturday, October 14th, Grand Prairie Detectives, with the assistance of the United States Marshal Service North Texas Fugitive Task Force, arrested Nakarius Hall, 19 years of age, at his residence in Arlington for Capital Murder. The investigation revealed Hall was an accomplice in the homicide of Simon Nguyen. Hall remains in the Grand Prairie Detention Center with a charge of Capital Murder.
