DeSoto Police are currently investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred early on Saturday morning, October 14, 2023. The incident took place at an apartment complex on the 2400 block of Bolton Boone Drive.
The victim, a man who was in his vehicle near the apartment complex at approximately 4:00 AM, was approached by an unidentified individual wielding a rifle and wearing a pink medical mask. The suspect, described as a slender, light-complexioned African-American man, standing approximately 6 feet tall, threatened the victim and subsequently shot him in the arm.
A struggle ensued between the victim and the suspect over the firearm, which ultimately led to the suspect fleeing the scene in the victim's vehicle. DeSoto Police were later able to recover the vehicle not far from where the assault took place.
Responding police officers provided initial aid to the injured victim at the scene before paramedics transported him to a local hospital for further medical attention. The victim is expected to recover from the gunshot wound.
DeSoto Police continue to investigate and ask residents to contact the City’s non-emergency number at 972-223-6111 if they have any information that could be helpful to this case. If residents spot a man resembling the suspect’s description, police request that you notify them directly via 9-1-1 and do not attempt to confront the suspect.
