On Friday, October 27, 2023, a Plano police officer intervened to protect a driver who was under attack by another motorist in a disturbing incident near Custer Road and W. Parker Road.
While on patrol, the officer witnessed an aggressive encounter between two drivers, with one driver intentionally striking the other. In an effort to stop the attack, the officer intervened. The suspect, however, showed relentless determination in pursuing her victim.
The victim, attempting to escape the volatile situation, made multiple evasive maneuvers, but the aggressor appeared to have no concern for the safety of those on the road, including a loose dog in her vehicle. The victim did not know the suspect or her intention.
The officer apprehended the suspect in the 5900 block of Alma Road after she exited her vehicle. The suspect, still consumed by anger, approached the victim's vehicle with an object in hand, posing a further threat. The officer acted decisively, subduing the suspect and taking her into custody.
Following the incident, Plano Fire-Rescue personnel evaluated all involved parties for injuries. Authorities also had to ensure the welfare of the loose dog, which was taken into the care of animal control.
The suspect was subsequently transported to the Plano City Jail, where she was booked on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Vehicle) and Evading.
The Plano Police Department emphasized its commitment to maintaining the safety of residents and visitors in the city, stating, "We will not tolerate any acts of violence against anyone living or driving through our city."
