Abilene Police Solves 1982 Cold Case, Suspect Arrested for Killing Woman and her 8-year-old Daughter

In March of 1982, the Abilene Police Department responded to a double homicide in the 1300 block of South Bowie Street.  The victims were identified as 30-year-old, Susanna Flores Brown and her 8-year-old daughter Franchesca Antionette Martinez.   

The case remained cold for forty-one years. The Abilene Police Department Cold Case Detectives revisited the case, and through advancements in DNA technology, and new information an arrest warrant was issued by the Taylor County District Attorney’s Office.  65-year-old Billye Brown was arrested and charged with two counts of First Degree Homicide. 

Brown is being held on a bond of $200,000. 

The victim’s family was notified of this arrest.  

The Abilene Police Department thanked the Department of Public Safety Crime Lab, the Tarrant County Medical Examiners Crime Lab, the Taylor County District Attorney’s Office and Cold Justice for assisting in the investigation and the warrant.
