On October 31, 2023, Keller Police arrived at Keller ISD's Compass Center at approximately 8:23 a.m. this morning following reports of a student fleeing from the campus' security screening. The incident occurred after an employee identified what they believed was a firearm in the student's backpack.
Within one minute of the 911 call, patrol officers arrived on the scene and successfully located the suspect, taking the student into custody. During a brief foot chase, the student had discarded the firearm, which officers later recovered.
The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
In a statement issued by Keller Public Safety, they expressed gratitude to the diligent Keller ISD employee, saying, "Please join us in thanking this incredible Keller ISD employee for their diligence. This morning's incident is a testament to the district's safety and security protocols."
