The joint effort alleges that Tennyson Wellness Center has been involved in illicit activities, criminal conduct, and lewd behavior, including prostitution and indecent assault, disguised as a massage establishment. This action marks the commencement of a comprehensive city-wide enforcement strategy to uncover and eliminate sex crimes within massage establishments.
Despite prior investigations and arrests by the Plano Police Department, Tennyson Wellness Center has persisted in its operations. In response, the City of Plano, under Rule 202 of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, seeks court-authorized pre-suit discovery to obtain detailed information. This will empower the city to thoroughly investigate and potentially pursue legal action against owners, landlords, employees, and customers engaging in illegal activities.
According to court filings, Tennyson Wellness Center is accused of exploiting vulnerable women, with reviewers providing explicit details of sexual acts and physical attributes in demeaning reviews. Membership fees are reportedly required for some reviews, contributing to a disturbing pattern of behavior.
The Plano Police Department's prior responses to citizen complaints revealed allegations of inappropriate touching and solicitation of sexual acts for money by massage therapists employed at Tennyson Wellness Center. Notably, previous arrests were made, including the arrest of employee Qiaoyu Zhang on February 23, 2023, for engaging in prostitution.
Several other massage establishments in Plano have also faced arrests for sexual offenses in 2023. The City of Plano emphasizes its commitment to taking legal action against any establishments or individuals involved in illicit activities, reiterating its dedication to community safety.
The Plano Police Department, committed to reducing prostitution offenses and related sex crimes, asserts its readiness to use all available legal means—both criminally and civilly—to protect the community and hold those profiting from illegal activities accountable.
