In the early hours of Wednesday, November 29, Garland Police responded to a concern for welfare call in the 1800 block of Vine Drive. At approximately 2:30 am, a distressing call from a male revealed a grim situation, stating he had just killed his wife and intended to take his own life.
Upon arrival, officers entered the residence and discovered that a male, identified as 65-year-old Luat Nguyen, had a self-inflicted gunshot wound, while a female, identified as 66-year-old Kim Phi Nguyen, was found in a separate room with multiple gunshot wounds. Both individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene by Garland Fire Paramedics.
Preliminary investigations and evidence collected at the scene point to the conclusion that Luat Nguyen shot and killed his wife, Kim Phi Nguyen, before turning the gun on himself. Detectives await an official cause of death from the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office as they continue their inquiry into this incident.
