One Dead in Temple Shooting, Two Suspects Arrested for Murder

The Temple Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place on November 30, 2023.

At around 10:17 p.m., on Thursday, November 30, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of North Main Street for reports of a shooting. 

Temple Police say that one fatality has been confirmed as a result of the shooting.

The two suspects are believed to be involved in this incident and have been identified.  Both are currently at-large.

UPDATE:  The Temple Police Department has identified the deceased individual as 36-year-old male, Jesse Mattos. Officers are still searching for the two identified suspects.

UPDATE #2: The Temple Police Department has identified the two suspects believed to be involved in the shooting as 18-year-old Justin Hix and 24-yearold Ricardo Salazar. A warrant has been issued for Justin Hix for the murder of Jesse Mattos, and a warrant has also been issued for Ricardo Salazar for aggravated assault. At this time, both suspects are still at large and are considered armed and dangerous. If you see either suspect, please do not make contact and call 9-1-1.

UPDATE #3: 18-year-old suspect Justin Hix has turned himself in to the Temple Police Department and has been taken into custody. 24-year-old suspect Ricardo Salazar is still at large.

UPDATE #4: On December 2, 2023, 24-year-old suspect Ricardo Salazar was arrested and taken into custody.
