15-year-old Dead in Garland Shooting, Suspect Arrested

On Wednesday, December 6, around 6:00 pm, Garland Police responded to a gunshot wound call in the 3900 block of Roanoke Drive. The caller reported a male subject lying in the street, indicating that the individual appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound.

Emergency personnel, including the Garland Fire Department and Garland Police Department, arrived at the scene. They located the 15-year-old male victim and promptly assessed his condition. The victim was then transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Garland Police detectives are actively working the case trying to identify the person or persons involved.

The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE:  The victim has been identified as Russell Deangelo Jefferson of Garland.  Detectives have identified 18-year-old Cesar Rocha of Dallas as the suspect in the shooting death of Jefferson. Rocha is cooperating with investigators and was taken into custody, and charged with murder.
