In a tragic incident earlier today, Sergeant Stephen Gibson of the Somervell County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) lost his life in an on-duty car crash on Hwy 144 south in Somervell County. The incident occurred in the early morning hours.
Sergeant Gibson, a dedicated law enforcement officer, had served the Somervell County community for an impressive 26 years, holding various positions within the Sheriff's Office. The 58-year-old deputy was well-regarded for his commitment and contributions to public safety.
The Somervell County Sheriff's Office released a statement expressing their deep sorrow over the loss. "This community has lost a great man today! Sergeant Stephen Gibson above all placed his family and friends as the most important people in his life," the statement read. "A great husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed in this community. Thank you, Stephen, for your friendship, and years of service to our community. Rest in peace brother; we have it from here."
