On Tuesday, October 1st, at around 8:45 p.m., the Grand Prairie Police Department responded to a shooting in the 400 block of E Palace Parkway. Officers located a male with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported by medics to a local hospital where medical staff later pronounced him deceased.
Detectives determined the suspect and victim, who knew one another, were involved in an altercation which escalated, resulting in the victim being shot.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Zahrek Patton of Fort Worth, was located nearby and arrested by officers. Patton is currently being held at the Grand Prairie Detention Center on a murder charge with a bond set at $1,000,000.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified
