The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Monday, October 7, 2024, in the 2600 block of S. Belt Line Road, near Lone Star Park.
At approximately 10:40 a.m., a Chevrolet passenger car traveling northbound on S. Belt Line Road veered into the southbound lanes for unknown reasons, colliding with a Dodge passenger van. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet passenger car later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical staff. The driver of the Dodge van is expected to survive.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified. The Grand Prairie Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
UPDATE: The deceased was identified as 21-year-old Romeo Dominique Alvarez of Duncanville.
