On October 29, 2024, Dallas Police Sergeant David Bayson, badge #10068, was arrested on an Assault – Family Violence charge, a Class A misdemeanor, under a warrant issued out of Dallas. Sergeant Bayson, who was off-duty at the time of the alleged offense, has served with the department since January 2010 and is assigned to the Youth Services Section. He is currently on administrative leave pending the results of an Internal Affairs investigation.
This incident marks the second arrest of a Dallas police officer in recent days. On October 28, 2024, Dallas Police Officer Austin Garza, badge #12400, was arrested on a Criminal Mischief charge, also a Class A misdemeanor, following a warrant issued by the Glenn Heights Police Department. Officer Garza, like Bayson, was off-duty at the time of the alleged offense.
Both cases are under review as investigations proceed.
