Irving Police Respond to Disconnected 911 Call, Arrest Man After Violent Assault on Girlfriend

Raesean Tyrell Yarbrough

IRVING, Texas - An Irving man was arrested after allegedly assaulting and strangling his girlfriend during a domestic violence incident at a local hotel, according to police.

At approximately 1:12 a.m. on June 1, 2026, Irving police officers responded to a domestic disturbance in progress at the WoodSpring Suites hotel in the 300 block of W. Interstate 635.

According to dispatch information, a 911 caller could be heard pleading with someone who reportedly had a gun, telling him to "put the gun down" before the call was disconnected.

Emergency dispatchers traced the call to a specific room at the hotel, and officers responded immediately.

Upon arrival, officers interviewed a female victim who identified the suspect as 23-year-old Raesean Tyrell Yarbrough, the father of her child. The victim told officers the couple had been in a dating relationship for approximately two years and were living together in the hotel room.

The victim declined medical treatment but told officers that an argument escalated when Yarbrough allegedly shoved her, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the floor.

According to police, the victim said Yarbrough then punched her multiple times in the head, shoulder, upper torso, and back.

Investigators said Yarbrough later attempted to leave the hotel room with the couple's young son, who was asleep in a stroller.

The victim told officers she grabbed Yarbrough by the neck to prevent him from taking the baby. Police said Yarbrough then grabbed her by the front of the neck and squeezed to the point she could not breathe.

Although the victim did not lose consciousness, officers observed visible scratch marks on her neck. Investigators also documented a bump on her forehead that the victim said resulted from being punched.

During the altercation, Yarbrough allegedly threatened the victim, telling her, "I'll kill you then I'll kill myself."

The victim told officers she knew Yarbrough kept a firearm in the hotel room and said he picked up the weapon and placed it in a backpack after making the threat.

Based on witness statements, physical evidence, and the investigation at the scene, officers arrested Yarbrough.

He was booked into the Irving Jail and charged with:

  • Assault Family Violence by Impeding Breath/Circulation
  • Terroristic Threat
  • Assault Family Violence Causing Bodily Injury

Jail records show Yarbrough has since posted bond and been released from custody.
