Irving ISD to Continue Free Breakfast and Lunch Program for All Students in 2026-27

IRVING, Texas — The Irving Independent School District has announced it will continue participating in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) during the 2026-27 school year, allowing all students to receive free breakfast and lunch regardless of household income.

The program operates through the National School Lunch Program and National School Breakfast Program and provides meals at no cost to every student enrolled in participating schools.

Under the Community Eligibility Program, families are not required to complete traditional free and reduced-price meal applications. District officials said eliminating the application process reduces administrative burdens on both families and schools while ensuring students have consistent access to nutritious meals.

Irving ISD officials noted that continuing participation in CEP helps remove barriers that can prevent students from receiving healthy meals during the school day.

The district said the program supports student well-being and academic success by ensuring that all children have access to breakfast and lunch at no charge throughout the school year.

The Community Eligibility Program is a federal initiative designed to increase access to school meals in eligible districts and schools serving large numbers of students from low-income households.

The program will remain in effect throughout the 2026-27 academic year.
